There are four main components in every build: the foundation, framing, decking, and railing. After decades of research and more than [var:totalDecksBuilt] completed decks, Green Shield has identified and engineered the best, most time-tested collection of materials for durability, stability, and long-term performance.
Many composite decks rely on concrete footings that can settle or shift over time. Green Shield uses engineered footing pads designed to resist sinking, ensuring the most structurally sound and supported build available. Each deck post is protected with Rotbloc wrapping at the most vulnerable rot zone where microorganisms and moisture reside.
Standard deck builders often stop at minimum code, using builder-grade 4x4 posts. The Green Shield standard is high-grade number 1 Southern Yellow Pine 6x6 deck posts, and a deck frame that is kiln dried or “pre-shrunk.”
Standard composite boards often use moisture-trapping wood-filler. Green Shield utilizes water-resistant rice hull cores fully capped in EPL resin. Additionally, integrated heat-blocking technology reduces thermal retention, keeping surfaces cooler and safer for feet and paws. This smarter engineering ensures a durable, high-performance deck that defies the elements.
Typical wood railing can be upgraded by wrapping in vinyl or composite sleeves, but these are prone to rot, cracking, or mold, and can lead to injury. Green Shield installs only commercial grade, powder-coated aluminum deck railing that’s impervious to water, rust-resistant, available in a variety of styles, and built to last the life of the deck.
