Green Shield offers KDAT deck framing in two colors. Our brown KDAT deck frames provide a classic dark wood look without the risk of your deck turning green. When a homeowner chooses Gray KDAT deck framing, they can make a bold visual statement and extend the color palette of their home's interior to the outdoors.
KDAT (Kiln Dried After Treatment)
KDAT is an acronym that stands for Kiln Dried After Treatment. This process involves putting lumber into giant oven-like kilns to remove excess moisture before it reaches the job site. Using KDAT as a framing material instead of “wet” wood prevents warping and the formation of wavy decks. KDAT also allows builders to pre-stain the wood, deliver it to the jobsite ready to go, and avoid the green look of “wet” treated wood.
The Green Shield Difference
"KDAT means our boards come 'pre-shrunk.' Green Shield is confident that KDAT is the best value deck framing solution on the market today."
