To save on cost, many manufacturers only cap the top of their composite deck boards. This provides a finished look, but risks moisture and decay in the grooves and under the deck board. In order to provide customers with the best decks in the industry, Green Shield Deck Builders uses fully capped and reversible composite deck boards. Our fully capped boards have an EPL Resin layer that covers the top, bottom, and groove of your boards, protecting all sides from moisture.
Capping
Capping is an industry term used to talk about how your composite deck board has (or hasn’t) been sealed against moisture. You would typically experience capping when looking at the top of your composite deck boards. Most often capping is performed by coating a composite deck board with a resin or hard plastic layer.
