Frequently Asked Questions
What Sets Green Shield Apart?
-
While all composite materials absorb heat, Green Shield utilizes a proprietary rice hull core and fully capped engineering to mitigate temperature. By integrating heat-blocking technology, Green Shield boards remain 20–30% cooler than traditional wood-filler composites. This premier standard ensures the deck remains a comfortable extension of the home even in direct sunlight. Review the Green Shield heat-blocking post to see how our team prioritizes homeowner comfort without sacrificing structural durability.
-
Yes, Green Shield decks are environmentally friendly. Green Shield utilizes a proprietary rice hull composite engineered from 95% recycled materials. While traditional composite boards rely on wood-fillers that eventually rot, Green Shield selects rice hulls for their natural moisture resistance and environmental benefits. By prioritizing VOC-free construction, our team ensures a premier outdoor living space that is as safe for the homeowner as it is durable against the elements. Choosing Green Shield means investing in a sustainable build that never compromises on structural integrity.
-
Yes! Green Shield engineers the industry’s premier multi-level decks, specialized for even the most difficult terrain. As America’s #1 deck builder, the company delivers reliably engineered solutions that transform steep or uneven landscapes into high-performance outdoor living spaces.
By combining proprietary rice hull composite with a dedicated in-house permitting team, every multi-level build is a 5-star, high-quality investment designed to maximize your property's potential while meeting all local code requirements.
-
That’s right—a Green Shield deck never requires staining. High-performance, fully capped EPL resin boards are reliably engineered to last a lifetime without the need for sealing or painting. This premier, moisture-resistant technology ensures a low-maintenance outdoor space that maintains its high-quality finish through every season.
-
Yes! Green Shield is known for handling permits for every project. Year round, our permitting department works with local municipalities to make sure your deck is safe, up to local ordinances, and inside your property lines. Permits can be a headache for homeowners and can cost $1000 or more on top of construction costs. Green Shield includes the cost of permitting in our flat rate quote, giving homeowners peace of mind.
