Alkaline Copper Quaternary (ACQ)

Alkaline Copper Quaternary (ACQ) is a preservation treatment engineered for outdoor applications. ACQ does not use arsenic or chromium and is much safer than older CCA preservation techniques. ACQ was a popular wood preservative after the ban of CCA, but due to its corrosive nature on hardware the top preservation treatment today is MCA.

The Green Shield Difference

Green Shield uses MCA wood preservation. This choice was made over ACQ because it leaches less copper into the environment, it is significantly less corrosive to hardware, and is a cost effective solution to wood preservation.

"ACQ wood preservation technology has been replaced with MCA technology. Green Shield always looks for the best and most affordable solutions for homeowners."
