Green Shield continues to use the latest in wood preservative technology. Our choice to use MCA treated KDAT products reflects our commitment to both building a lifetime deck and protecting homeowners from potentially harmful chemicals. The results speak for themselves: our decks last longer, look better, and remain safer than other decks on the market.
Micronized Copper Azole (MCA)
Micronized Copper Azole (MCA) is the primary preservative used in Micronized Treated Wood. MCA is a newer treatment that has replaced legacy wood preservation methods such as CCA, CA-C, and ACQ. MCA provides protection by saturating the wood with water that contains particles of copper and azole, a co-biocide. After MCA is absorbed into the wood, it is protected against fungal decay and insect attack.
The Green Shield Difference
"Staying at the forefront of deck innovations is key to Green Shield's success as the Nations #1 Deck Builder. Our transition to MCA treated KDAT lumber is just one example of this commitment."
