Description

"Reskinning" a deck—replacing only the surface boards and railings while keeping the existing frame—is a common request. However, Green Shield believes that a "Forever Deck" is only as reliable as the structure beneath it. Before choosing to resurface, it’s vital to understand how the "bones" of your deck affect your long-term investment.

The Reality of Resurfacing:

  • Structural Limitations: While our team can install premier composite surfacing on an existing frame, the vast majority of older wood structures do not meet modern Green Shield engineering standards. This often requires additional blocking and structural reinforcement to support the weight of composite materials.
  • Warranty Transparency: Green Shield provides "straight talk" regarding warranties. We can only warrant the products we install. If we utilize an existing frame, the Transferable Lifetime Warranty cannot cover the old structure, leaving the homeowner at risk if the original "bones" eventually fail.
  • The Green Shield Standard: For homeowners seeking total peace of mind, a full Green Shield build is the premier choice. By engineering the foundation, frame, and surface together, we ensure the entire project is backed by our lifetime guarantee.

Green Shield refuses to compromise on safety. We provide the bridge between your aesthetic goals and a reliably engineered reality. Visit the Green Shield website to schedule a 20-Point Safety Inspection to see if your current structure is truly fit for a reskin.
