Talking with Patrick, ArcSite Expert | Green Shield Partner Podcast
Michigan-based partnership fosters innovative software, ensuring professional deck visualization and accurate, data-driven project pricing.
Description
Green Shield believes that the strength of a deck starts with the accuracy of the design. By working with Michigan-based ArcSite, Green Shield has replaced the outdated "guy with a truck and graph paper" method with a premier digital standard that captures complex material data and pricing with pinpoint accuracy.
The Professional Standard:
Real-Time Visualization: Unlike static paper sketches, our team provides a detailed, colorized visual of your deck’s structure, steps, and railings on-site. Homeowners can participate in the design, adjusting layouts in real-time to see how every change affects the final build.
Dead-Accurate Pricing: Our mobile-first workflow eliminates the math errors common in manual quotes. By accounting for every beam and hidden fastener instantly, Green Shield provides a final price that eliminates future change orders.
Hardworking Backbone: This technical precision ensures that what is promised during the consultation is exactly what is built. It provides the bridge between elite craftsmanship and a reliably engineered reality.
Green Shield refuses to rely on "close enough." By integrating smarter technology into the field, our team ensures that every homeowner receives a professional experience and a structure built for the long haul. Visit the Green Shield website to schedule a free 20-point safety inspection and see your new deck designed in real-time.

Adam: We would say that working with Green Shield has helped ArcSight actually improve its software and become a better version of itself.
Patrick: Absolutely. It is a better tool since we started working with GreenShield.
Adam: So Patrick, can you give me a brief overview of what ArcSight is for me as GreenShield and then also for homeowners?
Patrick: Sure. Well, ArcSight is a mobile first tool that really allows your field crew to be able to capture any of the data they need, whether that be for pricing, that be for materials or whatever, and it's a tool that you can use with the homeowner to kind of get their input, their buy in and so forth.
Adam: So what would you say has GreenShield done with ArcSight that was kind of new and unexpected to you? Did we do anything that or take your software to its different limitations that you wouldn't normally have seen from someone else?
Patrick: Well, I work with a lot of clients and what I immediately saw was a very similar organization. We're a tech company, you're a debt company, but we have the same sort of attitude, right? We're small and growing, growth oriented, and really trying to figure out ways to constantly improve, right? And working with you guys has just been a real blessing and fun to do because you're just on top of a great team. So, I think we're both, it's as stupid as it sounds, it's a win win. We're both learning from each other and helping that product grow and helping your business grow.
Adam: Why is it that you enjoy working with GreenShield and partnering with us to kind of develop what ArcSight can look like for a deck builder like myself. Because previously, you guys were mostly, you know, for for any contractor if you will, but I've noticed ArcSight being very, popular with like fence installers for example. So how has it been working with GreenShield on the deck space?
Patrick: Sure. Well, we also build our tool with our client in mind. We don't do what you guys do, so we're always working closely with folks because that helps us build the better tool, right? Yes. Really to get the workflows that you guys actually need. So there's been, like you said, a very close collaboration here and you've really helped me grow in learning as much as I need to know about decks.
Adam: So we've talked about a lot of different ways that ArcSight and GreenShield have kind of worked together. What ways would you say ArcSight benefits the homeowner?
Patrick: Gotcha. Well, you know what you do, the client knows he wants a deck, but he really doesn't have any concept that goes behind that. That's clear. And being able to both have a tool that we can capture that data and go through all the business workflows, but also have a visual that people can identify with. And it just goes a long way for them to understand what you're actually offering beyond a number and some peer conversations, right? So there's that aspect to it. Well, it enables them to look beyond the price, right? It is an actual demonstration, a visual of what they're gonna be getting and it allows that kind of communication between you and your homeowner client to discuss what they're really looking for, right? Yeah. It enables them to be involved in it and even touch the screen and make decisions and really get that buy in.
Adam: Yeah. What I love about it is it's giving them a really accurate drawing, so that's great in terms of pricing, but the customer can see what they're getting. And it's really a really nice visual and it shows, you know, their house, the actual deck structure, the steps, the railing. Whereas working with graph paper, it's kinda hard to visualize it. Whereas ArcSight's color, and it's just a really beautiful way to demonstrate what we can give to a homeowner in real time. So this does not take a lot of time. A lot of software out there takes a long time. This is done really, really quickly on our very first meeting with the homeowner.
Patrick: Being able to see you use technology really puts people, puts you at a different level than the guy with the truck and the paper, right?
Adam: Yes, couldn't agree more that the tool makes us look both professional and it gives us that accurate pricing so that way we can be confident that we're giving the customer the correct contract price and we don't have to give them a change order. I think it's so it's pretty unique that I'd somebody in construction working in the field every day under the blazing sun or the freezing cold to be working with more of like a tech company that you would see in like maybe Silicon Valley or something. But the fact that we're both based in Michigan, I think is really So we're able to collaborate at such a high level. Yeah. Just being that we're so close to each other, it's just just a match made in heaven.
Patrick: Exactly. Which
Adam: is it's almost it's almost like
Patrick: Meant to be.
Adam: It's meant to be. So, it's so cool. I just love it.
