Get to Know Adam Rought, CEO and Founder of Green Shield Deck Builders
Adam Rought, fourth-generation builder, founded Green Shield to provide durable, lifetime-guaranteed "Forever Decks" nationwide.
My name is Adam Rought, and construction isn’t just my profession—it’s in my DNA. As a fourth-generation builder from Greenville, Michigan, I grew up under the mentorship of my father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. They taught me a simple, "straight talk" truth: a man’s word is only as good as his work.
The Problem with "Standard" Decks: I started in the industry in 2013 and quickly noticed a frustrating reality. Homeowners were investing thousands in "luxury" composite decks that were failing within years. Why? Because the industry was relying on wood-filled boards and lazy craftsmanship. People were being promised a "Forever Deck," but they were being sold a temporary solution.
The Green Shield Solution: I launched Green Shield to bridge the gap between that promise and a reliably engineered reality. Our team refuses to settle for industry-standard shortcuts. We’ve replaced failing wood fillers with wood-free composites and swapped unstable "wet" lumber for our KDAT structural hardworking backbone.
Our Commitment to You: Today, Green Shield is proud to be the largest deck builder in the nation, but we remain rooted in the Greenville community that raised me.
- Our Team: Every deck is built by our specialized W-2 craftsmen, not random sub-contractors.
- Our Vision: We want families to spend more time outdoors without a "to-do" list.
- Our Guarantee: We don't just build decks; we build Lifetime Forever Decks that stand as a testament to four generations of building pride.
I look forward to showing you what happens when heritage meets smarter engineering. Welcome to the Green Shield family.
My name is Adam Rought, founder and CEO of Green Shield Deck Builders. I started in construction in 2013, and I'm a fourth-generation builder from Greenville, Michigan. I grew up learning that a man's word is only as good as his work, and that legacy is what drives everything we do today. Construction is really in my DNA. My father, my grandfather, and my great-grandfather all were passionate about construction, but I saw a problem in the industry. People were investing in composite decks that were still failing because of wood fillers and poor craftsmanship. I launched GreenShield to give homeowners something better, a deck that actually delivers on its promise. It's very important to me that families spend time outdoors and GreenShield is allowing families to do that with our Lifetime Forever decks. Today, we're proud to be the largest deck builder in the nation, but we're still rooted in the community that raised me. I look forward to seeing how far Green Shield can grow and how many customers we can provide the Green Shield Forever Deck to.
